I think the aim here was to transform the bag into a more streamlined day pack, but in reality it doesn't make that much difference

It has thick shoulder straps that are rigid to support the weight, padded panels and airflow on the back panel and lastly, minimal and barely-there water bottle storage on either side to hold a drink bottle and then compress into just a strap

But I pulled it off, and we ended up packing: 1 backpack for each person (6 backpacks total) 1 stroller 1 small carry-on suitcase I was bummed we ended up needing to bring the carry-on suitcase, but with young kids, there were a few items we just could make fit in the backpack
